Works Well

This trap works well. The picture I am providing explains for the rating.

This is your trap.

It takes a couple days but it works. Once you catch one house sparrow more will follow. Especially if you get a female. I have caught 70 over the last 2 months and disposed of 49. It takes some practice helping native songbirds find their way out so I have clumsily let go a few sparrows along the way. I have also caught two starlings.

This trap is well built and strong. It has been buried by heavy snow falling off the roof line, fending off multiple neighborhood cats and survived being carried and dropped 5 yards by a pair of Cooper’s Hawks.

If you live in a more residential area with nosy neighbors who think they are concerned with birds, hide the cage out of plain site. I have found it works better not directly near my feeders anyway.

Again, check the cage regularly. Native sparrows, Titmice, Cardinals and Juncos find their way in. And closely double check the birds if they get wet because then they all look the same looking from the window.

Easy to use and successful trap!

We have lived in our house for 6 years. I love songbirds and there were plenty to feed. But as the years went by we saw less and less songbirds and more HOSP. It was time to remove the HOSP. We set the trap and on day 2 we caught 3 birds. It’s day 8 and we have caught 36 so far! I never knew how mean the HOSP were until I’ve had to deal with them close up now. They are so cruel, even to each other. Setting the trap has definitely made a difference in our backyard, but it’s still a work in progress. We’ve caught a Curved Bill Thrasher twice and it was easy to open the door and let him out. We followed the directions setting up the trap and it works flawlessly! Thank you!!

Works Great!

Tried other traps that didn’t work, but this one does. Bought this trap in 2016 and have trapped over 500 house sparrows since. I usually use a little bread for bait and the sparrows do the rest. Just follow the directions. I seem to see more and more native birds in my yard since I started using this trap. I trap pretty much year round, except when snow is expected. The trap has held up very well going on 7 years.

This sparrow trap really works!

November 2, 2022

I have caught almost 400 sparrows in a year in my yard with this repeating trap. I got it after seeing the horrible carnage that sparrows inflicted on some baby robins that had just fledged. I had noticed that the number of sparrows were increasing at an alarming rate. and they were going through massive amounts of bird seed, as well driving away all the other birds. Since the number of them that come every day is now down to about 30, the other birds are coming back. I hope after I have caught the remaining sparrows, a new flock doesn’t show up. My biggest concern is figuring out when they are nesting, since I don’t want to catch the parent birds and leave the babies to starve in the nest.

84 sparrows in the first 3 weeks.

August 29, 2022

I have had this trap set up for 3 weeks now and have already trapped 84 house sparrows. This has made such a wonderful difference at my backyard bird feeders. Before the sparrows would empty my feeders in a single day and discourage other birds from visiting. Now we are getting song birds daily that previously we would rarely see at our feeders.

It Works Beautifully

7 sparrows in 2 days! Dream come true. Probably about 15 more.

Insane

August 23, 2022

I was able to take the netting off all brocolli, kale, cauliflower, brussel sprout, and cabbage plants. Trapped over 70 sparrows. I quit counting. Most were trapped in an unbaited trap set by where the sparrows liked to dust bath. The initial flock was about 40 birds. There was a lull in trapping of about a week. I was only seeing less than 6 birds at a time. Then another flock moved in. I had to move the trap because the squash vines overtook the bathing area. I did buy some white millet seeds and baited the trap. Thank you for a great product. Saved my vegies from being destroyed by the city sparrows. Might even try to grow peas again next year.

Thanks for a great trap!

Hi Blaine,

Wanted to thank you for making these! This is my third season trapping. Took a bit of time to create a HOSP free zone or ‘black hole’ and it has been largely successful. Finally some peace and quiet and ability to use my own garden or get some sleep. However, I recently engaged another mega flock…

Couldn’t clear the box out fast enough, blew past my record of 10 to 15 and then a whopping TWENTY in one box a few days ago. There was no way to keep up.

Thankfully, I’d already ordered a second, which arrived two days ago, got it modified and set up yesterday… stacked on top of the older one… transferred some bait birds to it and seeded it…

WOW! Within 5 minutes, our first customers. Within 10 minutes, someone figured out how to use the elevator down to the First Class Lounge.

In a single day… I lost count… but know that I removed at least 15 this morning and still have quite a flock between the two boxes…

The efficiency of running two is amazing, seem to be able to get 3x as many, get the attention of the bulls, and be able to acquire and process more of the mega flocks.

Another intended use case is that I can run them in different locations. But for now, Condo Mode seems to be working just fine! It is fun watching multiple on each platform at the same time pushing each other into the elevator.

Thank you again, these do the job brilliantly, and think I’ve gotten a few more while typing this up.

Very satisfied with my purchase

August 12, 2022

Just wanted to let you know that I am a very satisfied customer. I received the trap on Wednesday… read all of your instructions… set it up this morning and caught 6 house sparrows in the first two hours. Unfortunately I also caught a male cardinal but released him unharmed. Went out and bought millet hoping not to attract any more song birds. Will also use bread.

I’m already feeling like I am getting control back of my feeders. At first I was hesitant to spend the money on the trap, it it was well worth it.

By the way, I humanely dispatched the sparrows and left them for our resident opossum to snack on tonight.
